The side for the Semi Final of the Presidents Trophy on Sunday at Myreside has been selected.

 

The ‘Sonians side, as usual reflects a mixture of the squad from across the 2^nd & 3^rd XI’s.The rules of the competition that do not allow players who have played in 3 or more SNCL games in the last calendar year to compete so it gives the many members of the squad an opportunity to impress.

 

The opponents, Westquarter & Redding, compete in Division 2 of the East League and whilst they are not having a great league season they do have great cup pedigree in 2010. Last Sunday the visitors reached the final of the Activcity T20 competition held at Myreside and during their Presidents Trophy campaign they knocked out the trophy holders Holy Cross in Round 2.

 

In Hamad Mumtaz they have a batsman amongst the top scorers in ESCA Div 2 whilst with 22 wickets Abdul Baqi sits second in the league wicket takers list.

 

‘Sonians under the Presidents Trophy captaincy of Ben Fox name a side that includes both Boorman brothers and the highly effective spin twins at the opposite end of their careers in Chris Cash and Colin Siller.

 

The winners of the tie will progress to the Presidents Trophy final against Fife side Kismet to be held at Boghall, West Lothian the following Sunday (22^nd) whilst the loser will flip a coin to see if they play home or away against Musselburgh in the final of the President Plate competition also on the following Sunday 22^nd.
