Introducing the Watsonian Wildcats & Wasps!

WatsonianCricket.co.uk is pleased to announce the launch of the Wildcats & Wasps.

This season has seen Watsonian Cricket Club Under 13s enter two teams in to the Lothian Junior Cricket Leagues for the first time, the leagues have grown in size to accommodate the increasing amount of youngsters playing cricket across the Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The 2 ‘Sonians XIs who compete in the A Division & B Division have today been rebranded to give them separate identities.

In the A Division the Watsonian Wildcats have started the season strongly fighting their way to victories in their opening fixtures but hot on their heals and with a sting in their tails are the Watsonian Wasps who have put in some encouraging performances already taking the scalp of SMRH in the B Division.

Match reports will continue to appear here on www.watsoniancricket.co.uk and you can also track the progress of the sides on the Lothian Junior Cricket League Website

The Watsonian Youth Development section is truly buoyant right now and great improvements have been made over the winter months under the stewardship of Simon Counsell and his growing army of volunteer coaches.

The Under 11 section under the leadership of Head Coach Michael Brown had an amazing number of around 70 boys and girls training at Myreside last night and there is an immediate need for more club players to support this coaching every Monday night 6pm-7.30pm

With Paddy Sadler & Professional Tim Weston heading out to Buckstone School next week and Watsonians long term commitment to increase our presence in the local community there is every chance this number will keep growing.

The Under 15 side kick off their competitive action this week also with a league fixture away to West Lothian on Wednesday night followed up by a clash with SMRH in the Cup on Friday evening.

All new volunteers are encouraged to help support our growth in this area, please contact Simon Counsell in the first instance via the details on the website’s ‘contacts’ page.
