15s Nail Heriots
The U15s notched up another comfortable victory with a win over Heriots.
Batting first the Under 15s where given a solid start with a big innings from Michael Williams (38) at the top of the order.
Chris Cash (44) held together the middle stages of the innings in an excellent partnership with Duncan Cockburn who ended with 43 not out.
The final over saw a quintet of boundaries hit as ‘Sonians racked up 23 runs off the final six deliveries to finish on a highly competitive score of 161-5 off their 20 overs
In response Heriots started at a rapid rate but probably lost any chance they had with a silly run out. Thereafter a fairly tight bowling and fielding performance saw Heriots wickets falling at regular intervals with Euan Mackay and the impressive Andrew Mclean (4 for 12) polishing off the tail after some good initial bowling spells from our opening pair of Stuart Nimmo and Tom Gilchrist. ‘Sonians running out victorious by 62 runs.
Whilst full of praise for a job well done, Head Coach Mike Cash left the squad with a word of caution that “Sterner tests lie ahead”.
The Under 15s are in action again this week on Friday evening when they travel to Penicuik.
