Welcome to Myreside Chumba and Paddy!
Watsonian Cricket Club today announced two players who will be joining their ranks for the 2010 season.
Scotland cap Stuart Chalmers joins the Myreside men following a season at Grange, having picked up his first one day international caps in 2009 in fixtures against Canada he will be hoping that a settled spot near the top of the order in 2010 brings him more representative honours as well as success to his new club.Chalmers one of three ‘Sonians recently selected for the Eastern Academy squad for 2010 said: “I am looking forward to the new challenge and getting more batting under my belt next summer.
“I am ambitious and to continue my push for more Scotland honours I know I need to be batting higher up the order week in, week out. I wasn’t given that opportunity last season, but should get it at Myreside and the move is one that I am excited about.”
Also heading across the capital to ‘Sonians is National Academy player Patrick Sadler who has moved from Barnton based RH Corstorphine across the city. Sadler recorded an impressive haul of 15 wickets during the seven games he represented the Scotland U19’s in the SNCL Premier League in 2009.
Club President Ross Brooks was delighted with the players decision to join ‘Sonians: “There is a real buzz around Myreside at the moment and I am happy that Paddy and Stuart are joining us and am extremely pleased that we have the opportunity to provide them with a platform to showcase their talents.
“Both players will compliment our current squad, increase our depth and give us even more options as we look to build on some strong performances from last season. As a club we are a very close knit group and I am delighted to welcome Stuart and Paddy into the squad, they are both talented players and I look forward to watching them progress at Myreside.”
