Watsonian u13 v Penicuik U13

Sunday 17th January at Westwoods

Penicuik 194 (13 wickets)    Watsonians 301 (3 wickets)

Penicuik, batting first, lost 9 wickets in the first six overs putting them in a very difficult position equated to a score of minus 22. Some consolidation by the third pair of Penicuik batsmen followed by the loss of a further 3 wickets by their fourth pair left them with a final score of 194 (minus 6).

A terrific bowling and fielding performance by the lads led by James Kidd with 4 for 9 from his 2 overs and Andrew Cockburn with 4 from 10 from 2 overs.

By batting sensibly, the team knew that a victory was within reach and the first pairing of Rory Evans and Andrew Cockburn did just that, losing no wickets and scoring a well compiled total of 22.

The second pair of Kerr Stoddart and James Kidd mangaged to add 24 to the score but the loss of 3 wickets reduced this to 9 runs. The score at the half way point was 231.

Murray Blair and Adam Hastings arrived at the crease looking to attack the bowling which they certainly did, scoring 42 runs in 3 overs including three sixes without losing a wicket.

The final pair of Calum Young and Jamie Cousin batted very sensibly, scoring off the bad balls and taking the total to an excellent 301.

A fantastic all round victory by 107 runs with the whole team looking in great form which we hope they can continue through the rest of the league and play-off programme.
