Undefeated U13s Win Again

Watsonian u13s defeated Fauldhouse by 22 runs at Westwood’s on Sunday to make it two wins out of two in the League.

Fauldhouse batted first with good striking in the middle of the innings enabling them to post a strong score of 270 runs whilst losing 7 wickets. The pick of the Watsonian bowlers were David McLean and Andrew Cockburn with two wickets each.

Watsonians needed to bat well to overtake the Fauldhouse score and the opening pair of Jamie Richardson and James Kidd batted well to take the score to 219. David McLean and Rory Evans kept up the momentum by also scoring 19, taking the score to 238.

The next pair of Ben Robbins and Andrew Dumble decided to attack and added a very important 31 runs to the total. This left Calum Young and Andrew Cockburn to finish with a flourish, adding a further 23, giving us a final total of 292 runs whilst losing only 3 wickets.

Probably one of the most important elements of the indoor game is not to lose wickets and to take as many of the opposition as you can. In the two games to date Watsonians have lost a total of only 6 wickets whilst taking 20 opposition wickets and it seems that the players now really have a good understanding of its importance.
