Sides for 31st June
The sides for the weekend’s league action have been announced.
The First XI will be looking to keep their good run going as they play host to Greenock at Myreside on Saturday. Despite Greenock sitting at the bottom of the SNCL table they ran Grange close last week and have some solid performers capable of causing an upset and ‘Sonians will again have to be switched on and at their very best to record an eleventh league victory of the season.
With Paddy Sadler and Craig Wright returning from playing and coaching duties in the U19 World Cup Qualifiers in Belfast and seamer Mike Legget also available captain Steve Paige makes adjustments to the sides that defeated Clydesdale and the National Academy to bring them level on points at the top with Grange.
The Second XI travel to Fauldhouse and also make a number of changes to the side that defeated Glenrothes at Myreside. Keith Flannigan takes the reigns in the 2 week absence of captain David Breach and is able to call upon any of nine players to make up his bowling attack. With spinner Chris Cash on Scotland Under 15 duty back in comes Vijay Saisubramanian after picking up some notable scalps while recording two 3 wicket hauls in the SNCL in his past 2 games along Nick Boorman who picked up 4 wickets on SNCL debut v the National Academy.
The Third XI host Stirling 3s at Craiglockhart looking to record their third win on the bounce following a victory over Falkland 3s that pushed Ollie Gaywood’s men up to 7th in the table.
In an unusual step the 3rd XI have also named their side early in the week with top run maker Gareth Burnett who hit a century in the return fixture and young seamers Fergus McNabb and Stuart Nimmo returning along with the experienced head of Ali Easton.
The past month has seen many members of the squad on international representative duty. It has been a mark of the strength of the clubs squad that anyone stepping up to a higher eleven has performed excellently and undoubtably played a big part in the victories all three sides have recorded in recent weeks. The commitment from the whole squad is beginning to pay off and by everyone continuing to work hard on and off the pitch then further positive results can certainly continue to be achieved and every player will continue to get opportunities.
