International ‘Sonians

Three of the ‘Sonians squad have been named in the 14 man Scotland Lions squad for the ICC Division 1 Championships in Jersey where they will compete in a round-robin competition against the national teams of Denmark, Italy and the hosts, Jersey.

Ryan Flannigan, Stuart Chalmers and Ewan Chalmers will travel to Jersey next week and the club wishes to congratulate all three Myreside men on their call ups.

Of course Chubby is already away with the full squad taking part in the World Cricket League Division One in Holland.

Whilst it means the trio will miss the SNCL fixture against Grange it also provides a great opportunity for others in the squad to ‘step in & step up’ and is exactly the sort of situation the club wishes to find itself in regularly going forward.

The news also comes on the back of other ‘Sonians on international representative duty.

Peter ‘Pistols’ Legget took 5-15 off 7 overs in a 2-1 series win over the Netherlands U17s last week with 2 of the 3 matches held at Myreside. Pete also travels with his Scotland U17 colleagues to Herefordshire this Sunday for a series of matches.

Meanwhile Chris Cash, vice captain of Scotland U15s, took the reigns this week when the Scotland U15s were in Shropshire. Cash bowled his full compliment of 10 overs each game to finish with figures of 10-43-1, 10-37-1 & 10-29-0.

Congratulations guys!!
