Tough Start to Season...

It's been a tough start to the 2015 league season for the 1st XI. After the opening day defeat away to Grange, the side have fallen at home to Falkland and Aberdeenshire in consecutive weekends and then most recently away to Arbroath. The cup competitions however have provided much needed respite with wins over Murrayfield DAFs in the Masterton and Royal High Corstorphine in the Scottish Cup.

“Profiteroles firmer than Three’s middle order!“

On a somewhat overcast afternoon the ‘aged skipper’ trudged to the middle to inspect the playing area upon which the Third XI starlets were due to perform against Edinburgh .  The sign read  “you’re on the astro” but subsequent to detailed review /groundsman negotiation we removed the ‘downie’ to confirm the previous days game had hardly caused a dent !  Had they played at all ??

3s struggle in (and on their way to) Fife

An away game during the School season was always likely to prove problematic for the 3s and that was the case as they headed to Freuchie to take on newly relegated Freuchie 2s.  Despite welcoming back skipper Tim Bunker, the 3s saw their squad hit by a number of junior call offs as well as the enforced absences of Keith Flannigan (shoulder injury) and Alice Baldwin (international duty) along with the continued absence of stalwarts Simon Counsell and Andrew Sinclair.
